About

Rachel Zan Faris was born and raised in the music and art industries of Lubbock TX. Skilled at creating visual art from a young age, she worked on her first professional album packaging project at the age of 15. After that initial project lit the fire, Rachel honed her craft & then began working regularly with FarisWheel Productions, a Lubbock-based company that creates art specifically for music.

Countless album covers later, Rachel has worked with many clients one-on-one to bring their visions to life. She has worked for clientele of international & local acclaim, including Robert Earl Keen, Flatland Cavalry, Keller Cox, Jenni Dale Lord, and numerous others.

While much of the artwork she creates is for specific print and packaging purposes, Rachel takes a more holistic approach when designing. Each piece created for every project she touches is interconnected by concept, art style, and ethos. A digital album cover is important, being the first point of contact with new fans. But the level of detail that goes into physical media like CDs, vinyl, and other merchandise is equally important as it provides a deeper level of connection for a band's audience.

Rachel creates works in many styles to fit the project, band, and music at hand - including classically-inspired digital painting, watercolor, line drawing, comic book styles, vintage-inspired styles, psychedelia, and more. She loves a challenge and learning to create new styles that are tailor-made for the project at hand.

She has designed a wide array of products: stickers, t-shirts, posters, unique merch items, CD packaging, vinyl gatefolds, paper dolls, a comic book, a full-length graphic novel, and a limited-edition box set. In addition, she dabbles in animation and making music videos.

As well as working with FarisWheel Productions to make powerful works of art for musicians, Rachel enjoys drawing in her spare time. Her personal artistic style is characterized by boldness, color, line work, and a high level of attention to detail - all melding into unique works inspired by Art Deco, Art Nouveau, and classic vintage psychedelia that convey raw and vivid emotions.
